Housley Group was founded in 1980 by Robert (Bob) D. Housley. Bob started out with a single service wire plow and just one employee. They worked hard during burying telephone drops for a major telecommunications company throughout Texas.

In 1986, Robert Kevin Housley, son to Bob and Mona Housley, joined Housley Group. He was assigned managerial responsibilities for many key segments of the business. Over time Kevin was promoted to the position of Executive Vice President responsible for all financial, business and day-to-day operations of Housley Group. In 1989 Housley Communications started a three-year project working for Ericsson Telecom updating the entire Illinois State University telecommunication system. We built a new underground conduit and manhole distribution system through the middle of the campus, completely rewired every building on the campus (120) and set approximately 2500 new direct dial digital telephone sets. A $3.5 million dollar project, it was Housley’s first multimillion dollar project.

In 1993 Housley Communications Inc. began their first OSP Construction Single Source Provider (SSP) contract. Since then, we have been continually awarded the contract for exchanges throughout Texas for three of the industry's major telecommunication companies.

Beginning in 1994 through 1998 Housley Communications provided expat’s and in country support to Telefonos De Mexico, in modernization of over 100 central offices in and around Mexico City. We provided main frame engineering and board to board testing including documentation and record keeping while maintaining service throughout the project. At it’s peak we had more than 50 expat engineers and 100 in country technicians.
Since our first purchase of the Vermeer D6 in the mid 90's, we have been a leader in the Horizontal Directional Drilling marketplace for decades. We are able to bore any type of soil, ranging from sand to granite and with diameters up to 42 inches.
In 1998 and 1999 Housley Communications provided approximately 50 US expat engineers in support of Telkom S.A. cellular telecommunications infrastructure build. We provided services from central office equipment design to tower locations. From Cape Town to Pretoria, many locations were remote and required extensive travel.

In the spring of 2004 we began supporting FTTP construction starting out in Wylie, TX. In that same year we placed 1,278,284 ft. of duct and fiber. The following year we placed 2,724,655 ft. in Plano TX. In 2006 we placed 1,587,941 ft. in Irving, Argyle, Justin and Garland TX.

2010 was an exciting time where we decided to expand our services to include gas, power, and utility construction of water, sewer and storm distribution to municipal, residential and commercial industries.
